Front porch before and after

Jim finished the front porch and front door this afternoon.  I wanted to show you the before and after.

Here was the state of the front porch when we first took possession of the house:

Now here it is after all of the work we’ve done on it - including the new paint job:

Once the forecast looks better Jim is going to finish up the facing of the third floor.  This has Anke and I really excited since it will make a huge difference to the look of the house.  Here’s how it looks now (including raw 2×4 that has been there since the new windows were installed a while ago):

    I love the new front door, we are looking for a period one as well. Where did you get it? We live in New Brunswick and have not been able to find a door we are happy with.

    Thanks for your comment Lorianne. We were very lucky that the door is the original one on the house. We simply changed the hardware and painted it black.

    Around Toronto we have Habitat for Humanity Restores (http://www.habitat.ca/restoresc648.php) perhaps you could find one there and they would ship it to you?

    Hi Kelly

    We went with CIL from Home Depot since they have a paint + primer in one. We chose Burmese Beige and Grey Mountain (you’ll see them if you grab a CIL outdoor colour brochure. Our painter Jim then found a pure black for the door.

    Hi … My front porch is 4 by 5 feet , what do I call it if I want to make this area cover with glass and a screen door . At the moment the area is open but I want to close this area with glass and a screen door , I want to do this to help stop draft coming in .So what is the term you use to have this done ? Thanks
