Final update on the built-in bookshelves

They’re done, trimmed, painted and beginning to get filled.  We couldn’t be happier with this addition to the media room.

Nothing like built-in bookshelves! Adds so much to the room! Congratulations on all your hard work, Kirk and Anke. It’s fun popping in every so often to see what you are doing. We saw your Mom and Dad on Saturday, Kirk, and they look fabulous and so happy! Cheerio! Sharen

Did you have the bookshelves built? If so, what type of wood did you use. I’m in the process of designing a media centre and want it painted white….(my carpenter - aka father-in-law is anti-white - so he’s no help in choosing a wood). I would like a wood that takes the paint well, but isn’t too expensive. By the way, I LOVE all your painted wood!!

    Hi Debbie

The bookshelves themselves are from Ikea. All of the trim surrounding it was painted. We purchased the wood from Central Fairbanks in Toronto since they have great trim and molding.

wow! these look fantastic! i’m not sure if you talked about this on an older post but i’m a newby admirer :) are they the billy bookshelves? may i ask what point you used for your trim to match the bookcase?

    Hi Miriam

They are indeed the Ikea billy bookshelves. We didn’t base the trim decision on the bookshelves but instead on the window/door and baseboard trim that matches what’s in the room. We purchased all of that at Central Fairbanks.

    best. Kirk
