Upstairs shower is now framed and drywalled

April 18th, 2009 · 5 Comments

Ben was here today and made progress with the upstairs shower. He got all of the shower walls framed, insulated, vapor barrier’d, and drywalled with the special shower drywall (I forget the name of it). We’re finally showing progress up there which is great. Ben also layed out where all plumbing will be going for the shower hardware that we bought at Taps. We’ve got a rain head that will go at 8 feet (our ceilings are a beautiful 9 feet tall) and a hand shower that will run down to the 5 foot mark (perfect for our kids and when Anke doesn’t want to get her hair wet).

Here’s how it is looking as of now:

Harold comes over to begin tiling the shower tomorrow. We can’t wait to see how our choices will look on the wall. Here’s how it looks when we layed it out on the floor to figure out spacing:

Is that shower + Tub? What size is it? The picture makes it look really small.

    Hey Leon

Tough angle for the camera unfortunately. The tub is 5 feet (same as the old one). The ceiling is 9 feet tall so the picture is not doing it justice at all.

Really nice looking tub. What make/model is it?

Thanks Pip. We’re really happy with it.

We got it at Taps and it was well priced around $550. We liked the shape of it as well as the fact that it had a “skirt” rather then having to tile around it (thus cutting down on cost while still looking good).

I’m sorry but I don’t know the model number. It was on the floor at Taps - so readily available. cheers.

I really like that Tile, what is each piece called, where did you get it, and how much will it cost to do your tub enclosure. We are in the process of picking tile for out tub enclosure and that looks great.
