The upstairs bathroom demo begins

April 4th, 2009 · No Comments

With a working shower now in the basement (more to come on that later) it was time to tackle the upstairs bathroom. The second floor washroom was really why we tackled this whole project to begin with. It was the catalyst since it had ripped open walls (due to pipes freezing last winter), holes in the wall (from when the electricians had to replace the knob and tube), and was in a general state of chaos. There is no sadness in seeing that room ripped apart!

Ben began the demo on Thursday. It was a bit of a bear given that the bathroom had undergone three “updates” all on top of each other!

Here’s what it looks like now. We’re about 85% through the demo stage (and the dirt throughout the house that goes with it). We’re thrilled with the size of the space especially given the bulkhead over the shower has been removed. That will make a huge difference to the appearance of the space and the functionality of the shower (since we can now go with a nice, high rain head rather then a shower head that made everyone stoop).
