Replacing the drain in the basement before the renovation begins

February 19th, 2009 · 1 Comment

Because of the sewage back-up scare we had around Christmas time we are going to replace the basement sewage line before we start to re-build down there. We just feel like it is the prudent thing to do despite our lack of desire to bear the cost. In addition we need to add a drain by the new boiler and dig new drains for where the basement bathroom will be located. All in all the cost will be $4,250.

We also feel that this is the time to put in a new water line from the road to take advantage of better water pressure. Again, we don’t want to do it but before we close in the ceiling this is the time. If we’re going to do things right then this is a must do. Cost on that is $1,200.

We’re going to use Absolute Draining & Plumbing again. They did a great job last time so we’ll go with a known entity.

Work starts on this tomorrow so things are progressing well.

It is always a good idea to at get the sewer drains camera inspected before finishing your basement. It would be a lot more expensive and inconvenient to fix a sewer line after the work is done.
