On holiday Monday we began to organize the basement. We have a lot of stuff down there (we’re always amazed at how much stuff we accumulate and neither one of is a pack rat!) It was a long process to properly organize all of our tools, sports gear etc… In addition it was a chance to clean up a bit since nothing had been done throughout all of the work that has gone on down there. As we progress with the basement reno it will be important to have all of our stuff centralized so that it won’t get in the way too much.
After we had done a lot of that work, I couldn’t help myself and began to demo some of the walls. It has really opened things up and given us an opportunity to see better how our layout will function, where walls should go etc… We’ve been a little bit stressed (some of us more then others
) about how the layout should be so every little bit helps.
Here’s what the basement looks like now after a bit of demolition (eventually you will be looking at the bedroom on the left and the entrance to the washroom on your right):
Here’s a photo looking into the space where the washroom will be (that window will provide a lot of light which will be nice):

I can’t really tell from your pictures, but how is the ceiling height in your basement? Is it low, or has it been dug out in the past?

Good question LeonK.
Definitely not dug out. It’s a relatively comfortable 6 1/2 to 7 feet. It’s nice though because it has 4 relatively large and deep windows.
Because it is not dug out we won’t go all out down there. But we think it will be a great addition to the house. Cheers.
