Moving to next steps on the sewage back-up

December 15th, 2008 · No Comments

Today I made contact with the company that was recommended to me by the city worker who came yesterday to help. The name of the company is Absolute Draining & Plumbing.

Andrew came by today exactly on schedule. He called ahead of time to let me know he was on his way. It’s amazing how the little things make your experience with contractors so much better.

We discussed a plan of action. Tomorrow he will come by again with a camera to get the exact location of the trap (it will also double as a good opportunity to see the status of our interior piping). On Wednesday his work crew will arrive to dig out the trap and replace it with the current best practice.

Total price is $2,000 plus GST. The city will then refund me the $2,000 as part of their grant.

In the meantime we are keeping water use to an absolute minimum to ensure that there are no more floods in the basement. We’re already looking forward to having this little emergency behind us! Better now then over the holidays I guess.
