We’ve been looking for a light to hang over our dining room table for quite some time. I was in West Elm this weekend which has just opened it’s first store in Canada (West end of Toronto in Liberty Village). They are part of the Pottery Barn/ William Sonoma chain- more youthful and modern and less expensive than the other two.
I wasn’t really looking for lighting but happened upon this Capiz Shell pendant light for only $259! It was quite ironic how Kirk wanted something elongated and rectangular and I wanted something pretty and feminine like Capiz. It fits perfectly over our table and also our budget which is hurting a little right now after our boiler installation and the market collapse.
I’ve included 2 pics: one with it hanging over our dining room table and the other the image from the West Elm website so you can get a closer look at it.
We found a new Phillips light bulb that is more environmentally friendly but also can be dimmed (currently not possible with CFL’s). They can be found at Home Depot.
While at Home Depot we also found this porch light from Home Depot. Again, not expensive at all ($39!) but fitting with the look of the front of the house.

Your pendant light is really gorgeous ! You are lucky to have a West Elm in Toronto, maybe we’ll have that chance too in Montreal eventually…

Thank you- I’m in love with it right now! I’m sure that you can now order West Elm on line in Canada

love the lighting…I’m going on their website right now…nice to know you can get lighting from them as you can’t get most of the lighting from Pottery Barn.
