As mentioned previously we are making progress on the second floor den. Austin’s team has been working hard on the drywall and mudding, priming and finally on re-building the trim around the doors and windows. Originally (like everyone I am sure) we tried to save the original trim. But in looking at it afterwards we felt like it would be too much work to salvage it. It was cracked in places and would need more man-hours then was necessary or prudent.
With that in mind Austin went to Central Fairbanks Lumber to source out trim that replicate the look. He did an amazing job.
Here are some photos of where we sit now with the priming and trim done.
We have a bunch of things left to do to get this room finished.
- We need to cut open the floor and move the radiator to under the window thus freeing up wall space.
- We need to have the hardwood re-finished by Capital Flooring.
- We need to put the final coat of paint on the walls and the ceiling.
- Then comes the best job! We need to hang the plasma and put in the wall and ceiling speakers!
