Parliament Lumber’s service is disappointing

June 23rd, 2008 · 5 Comments

We’ve been using Parliament Lumber for the majority of our deck material. About 5-6 weeks ago I placed a custom cedar order with them. We needed 90 pieces of 1×4x14 pieces of cedar to complete the walls and to clad the planter boxes. Unfortunately this size is not standard so a custom order had to be placed.

At first the service was good and they were helpful in securing the order and in telling me that it would take approximately two weeks for delivery.

Since that time I’ve called them about 5-7 times to check on the status. It turns out the order had never even been placed and the cost was going to be almost double what I was originally told! I was livid as you can imagine. We’ve wasted all of this time in waiting for them.

I’ve proceeded with the order since I’d gone this far (and I don’t have many options) and they’ve promised to have it to me by next Monday. The lesson here is to make sure to go through their procurement office to ensure that the information they are giving you is accurate! The shipping guy that I originally talked to gave me the run-around.

Well, Kirk, isn’t that a kick in the head- screwed up by a shipper! Guy must be a real ship head! Uncle John

We’re about to launch into a whole new phase of renovations. Deck is getting finished, the old kitchen is being done, and the bathroom is being planned so new updates soon I promise!

A lot of people wanted to do renovations before the war, like George Zip!

The place is a joke. I just enquired about a item and was told they were out of stock, when I asked when there stock would be in there answer was “not to sure”
