As a lot of people are doing these days we have opted to go for a natural gas BBQ. No more propane and no more running out at the last minute when the hamburgers are 50% done and you’ve run out of propane in the tank.
I called our usual plumber / gas guy and he quoted me $19 per foot to install the line. I have probably 15-20 feet to cover and think $285 - $380 for this service is WAY too high.
Can anyone comment on that price or let me know of someone that you have used that is less expensive but that does a good job? Maybe I’m wrong and it’s a standard price. We would really appreciate the help. Thanks.

Why use natural gas, I always find that I need to move my BBQ around depending on what I’m doing and the time of year. It was rarely in the same spot all year round.

We’ve got a pretty fixed location that is convenient all-season long so not having to change the propane tank will be great.

I think $300ish is about standard for that length- that’s what ours was… though we got it for slightly less for paying cash (saved the taxes basically).

Thanks for the information Laura. I confirmed it with a few other people as well and went for it. It works great as you well know.

Regarding this: for outside runs with steel pipe, does it have to be painted grey by code or can the line be rust-painted in any colour? I know it has to be painted by law but had one installer say you can paint it any colour and another say it had to be grey by code.

Hi Aaron
We don’t know much about this issue but I do know that we used the new flexible gas piping not steel. Sorry that we can’t be more helpful.
