Installing the microwave trim kit

April 12th, 2008 · 5 Comments

My dad and my buddy Rich came over today to help me clean-up the backyard. I took advantage of the opportunity to have Rich help me install the microwave trim kit. Rich is an incredibly smart guy and is really good with thinking through the right steps for a project like this.

All in all it took us about 30 minutes to install. We only needed a drill and a screw driver. The instructions for this KitchenAid trim kit were pretty straight forward. All in all it was a pretty simple do-it-yourself project. Having two sets of hands though definitely had some benefits.

Here’s what the trim kit looks like installed:

It looks so pretty and neat. TBH I findtrim kits completely bizarre - they are very rare in Australia! But such a good idea!

Nice. To funny… my wife and I have the exact same Microwave, and we are going to buy the trim kit as we are now beginning our kitchen reno this summer. The trim kit looks nice. Where did you get yours? Goemans? any idea of cost?

We bought ours at Sears and it was around $169 or something like that. It adds a nice finished look.

I have a trim that looks almost identical to yours. I am replacing my microwave but I can’t remove the trim to do that. Any hints you might be able to pass along? Thanks.

Unfortunately I now forget how we installed it since its been over a year. Perhaps you could google the instructions for your model?

    Good luck.
