Final decision made on Kitchen countertops

March 8th, 2008 · 6 Comments

We finally made our decision on the Kitchen countertops and decided to go with the Caesarstone because of it’s modern feel and durability. As mentioned previously I really had my heart set on Carrera Marble but without my husbands buy in, didn’t want the stress of having to care for it/ worry about scratches and stains (that I find charming but you can’t win them all!).

We went with the Stone Gray colour of Caesarstone which is very nice. It has nice texture and mimics stone quite well… we hope! Ciot distribute Caesarstone in Canada if you’d like to check them out.

Installation date is March.19th- they’ve already come to template the countertop area and took our sink along to make sure that they cut a perfect opening. It should only take a few hours that day to install.

Great that you’ve made a decision and chose a Caesarstone that you love:) We drove through the storm today so we could select an antique brown granite (finally came in this week)….Anke, I, too, lost the marble battle for the kitchen, but we’ve decided to use it for our bathroom reno, so I’m thrilled. Creamy calacatta with butterscotch veining, delicous…remind your hubby of the compromise you made:)

It’s amazing what you’ll go through (yes even snowstorms!) to get things done when it comes to home reno’s. Your choices sound beautiful. Yah to marble bathrooms! You should send us pictures when you’re done!

Argh! I can’t believe that so many people are scared of Marble in the Kitchen. Yet you will install marble backsplash directly beside your stove cooktop. Hope you don’t like spaghetti sauce or frying things ;)Good choice on the caesarstone though. It looks nothing like marble, but will last a lifetime. Congrats on your kitchen - it looks great. Question: why did you husband not want marble?

Kirk was concerned about the sensitive nature of marble. It scratches and stains easily and isn’t heat resistant- i find the imperfections charming- but didn’t want to have to deal with the stress of worrying that every time something was going to be placed on it that it would leave a mark. We had the backsplash sealed and it’s great- doesn’t receive as much direct wear and tear as countertops do.

True, and hey, I didn’t mean to come across as a jerk, now that I read my previous post. I just really love Marble counters in the kitchen. It’s not as bad as people make it out to be. It’s like buying a new home. Parking your car in the garage. freaking cause the new garage floor has tire/dirt marks on it. Hosing and brushing it clean. You do this twice before you realise - hey, it’s a garage floor. It’s supposed to look like this. Oh well. Cool blog and good luck. BTW - I LIKE your fireplace after you painted it! Looks great. hey, you should put Emperedor Brown Marble in the hearth.

Do you currently have marble counters in your kitchen? Maybe I can convince Kirk in our NEXT house.
