Anke and I are beginning to feel like there is light at the end of this LONG tunnel.
On Wednesday the rads were hooked back up on the main floor and it has made a world of difference to the temperature in the house. No longer is there a freezing cold draft coming up the stairs that had our second floor at 57 degrees for a couple of days during the cold spell. Thankfully the third floor has remained warm which is where our kids spend the majority of their time. Cordell Mechanical went above and beyond during this process. Two nights in a row they were at our place well past 7:30 - 8:00 trying to get the heat back on and the frozen pipes thawed.
Now that the rads have been hooked back up it allows us to have the hardwood finished both on the main floor and on the big staircase leading to the second floor. That’s happening this weekend so we are getting out of dodge since the fumes will be intense.
Once the floors are done it will be a bit of a milestone. We’ll have a clean, empty space that at least the kids can run around in. We’ll also have a closet where we can keep shoes, jackets etc… out of the way. Currently everything is on our stairs going up to the second floor and the landing up there. Having this area organized will bring us great happiness.
Next week all of the interior doors and trim will go in. That will be followed by the windows and back door. The week after it will be time for the kitchen installation to start and the pot lights and electrical to be finished.
The thought of all of this being done makes this stressful process seem worthwhile!
