Darren is still busy with taping, mudding and sanding. It seems like a slow process but it’s a really big job to make these walls beautiful.
We are looking ahead to what needs to be done next: our Hardwood Floors. We met with Danny from Capital Floors tonight who re-finished our Hardwood on our 2nd floor before we moved in. When he first took a look at the main floor (when it was still in a demo state) he ballparked re-finishing the area that was salvagable as well as laying new floor where needed at $4400. Now that all of the walls are down and the space is more clearly defined, he recommends laying down new hardwood rather than try to patch the old. Makes sense as it’s largely open concept and it should look seamless.
Bottom line is that the price is now $5500 plus an additional $600 to fix the bottom step of our stair case (it had been cut when previous owners put up a wall to divide the house into apartments) and sand/ stain the stairs. We are going to paint the bannister, spindles and risers white and then stain the tops of each step the same colour med/dark wood as the rest of the house. (At least that’s the plan for now!)

Couldn’t find “Capital Floors” in Toronto. Were you happy? If so, can you point me in their direction?
