Jan.8- 9th- Inpection for above

Jan.16th- Finish hanging drywall

Jan.17- 31st- Tape Drywall/ prime it/ put on first coat of paint

Feb.4- 8th- Install and refinish Hardwood Floors

Feb. 11th- Baseboards are put on

Feb.16th- Windows are ready for installation

Feb. 18- 20th- Window Casings are put on

Feb. 20- 22nd- Final coat of paint

Feb. 25th- ready for Kitchen Installation (the countertops and tiling happen after the Kitchen Cabinetry is installed)

If all goes well we’ll be looking at mid March finish date!

My finacee and I are also tackling a entire home reno - and came across your site while I was searching for contractors. Could you please point me towards a plumber (to essenatially install a new 14×8′ bathroom on the second floor) as well as a drywaller to do new drywall and patching. We too have a early 1900’s house with lath and plaster - and have combination walls throughout.

We have them listed on our resource page. Darren Hamar is our painter/ drywaller and Cordell Mechanical is our plumber. Both are great. We’d love to see your before and after pictures! If you’d like to share them please send them to us at 247reno@gmail.com and we’ll post them on the blog.

This site is super! How long should the drywall hang before we start taping … before we start mudding … to obtain maximum finish results? We are in a very humid environment!

    Hi Esther,

Fortunately we have a fabulous contractor who has taken care of all of those details for us this time around. You probably should consult someone but we believe that it’s the length of time that the mud takes to dry that’s a concern. You can start taping fairly soon after you hang the drywall.
