Kitchen Backsplash

December 20th, 2007 · 7 Comments

We had a chance to pop out to Saltillo Imports today to check out their tile assortment. Their selection is fantastic and we found what we were looking for. I was pretty sure that I wanted to go with a Carrara Marble but wasn’t 100% on what size or pattern. We found a 3 x 8″ elongated subway tile which will look fantastic with our white cupboards and concrete grey coloured Caesar Stone countertop (at least that’s my selection for today!). The price is $16.96 per 1.33 sq ft.

We’re still debating whether or not to go with honed marble- I’m leaning towards not honing it so that it has a little shine.

The white carrera marble is beautiful and very clean looking. A little shine can be nice

Thanks for your post Linda. It’s always nice to hear someone else’s opinion.

Probably 2 late for my 2 cents, but look around your kitchen. Do you have any shiny surfaces already? Stainless steel appliances, glass cabinets, shiny countertop?? If you have a lot of shine already maybe consider honed as the backsplash looks right at you as a vertical surface.

Good point. We still haven’t ordered it as the carry it in stock. I thought I would wait until the kitchen is installed for the very reasons that you mention above. Thanks!

    Hi Govindan

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately we can’t really answer your question. It really depends on the layout and possibilities with your 7×10 space.

If you’d like you could send us photos of your space and we will post them and ask for the users of this site to comment on what you could do with it. If you’d like to do that then please send photos to 247reno@gmail.com. We’ll do our best to post them in short order.
