Before and After photo’s of 2nd and 3rd floors

December 6th, 2007 · 7 Comments

Here are a few before and after pictures of what things look like so far on the 2nd and 3rd floors. What wonders new floors, carpeting and paint can make! We don’t have any pictures up on the walls yet etc. but it will give you an idea of the space.

We used Benjamin Moore Baby Fawn (OC-15) colour in the Family Room, 2nd floor bedroom which Kirk and I are currently using, as well as for the back wall of our daughter’s room. We used Benjamin Moore Cloud White (CC-40) for the halls and both kid’s rooms. Darren our painter used a flat white paint on the ornate plaster ceiling in the Family Room- it hides all the imperfections and makes it look so much better!

It doesn’t hurt that we have a LOT less clutter then the previous tenant.

Thanks for all your comments Krista. It’s nice to see progress- amazing what a few cosmetic changes can do! The third floor is our little haven while the rest of the house is being worked on.

    Hi Anke,

    The place is looking wonderful!

Do you know an equivalent to Cloud White in Pratt & Lambert’s paints? We are in the midst of renovations and will be choosing paint on Friday. Our living room/dining room isn’t huge - about 15 x 26 - and we have exposed the brick on one wall. I am looking for a white that will create a sense of airiness and space to the room and complement the brick. I have a favourite paint shop - the Paint Dept on Queen street, but they do not carry BM.

I love your sense of taste. Thanks, too, for the suggestions re: British Elle Magazine and Living Etc. I read them all the time now.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I was in NYC this week for work.

Are you painting your house yourselves or do you have a painter? We did all the painting for our first house ourselves but with this house we hired a painter b/c of the amount of space to cover/ time constraints and patching that needed to be done. The reason why I’m asking is because our painter uses ICI paint exclusively- he feels it’s the best and they are able to match any paint swatch you give them perfectly. If you’re going this route they should be able to match the Cloud White.

Otherwise I suggest taking a chip of Cloud White to your Paint Store and seeing if they can match it with Pratt and Lambert. I hope this helps!

    Hello Anke,

Your place does look beautiful. We are thinking about using Cloud White throughout our house but I was wondering what color you used to paint the trim. Many thanks.

Thank you! We’re in the home stretch now (for the main floor anyways) and will continue to post pictures over the next few days as the kitchen and windows are installed.

I believe the trim paint colour our painter used was Benjamin Moore OC-22 which is slightly brighter than Cloud White. Let me double check that with him!

I love the Cloud White- it’s a warm white that looks good with everything.
