I went to gather paint swatches today.
We need to choose colours for the 2nd floor hall and stairwell leading up to the 3rd floor landing, the den and all 3 bedrooms. Darren, our painter who’s fixing up the plaster walls advised to stick to light colours because they show less imperfections on the walls. Works perfectly for me since I love white!
The second floor hall also has to flow with the main floor staircase when it’s eventually done. The whole main floor is open concept so we need to stay consistent with colour. We will eventually be switching around the kids bedrooms so we want to stick with neutrals for now until everyone is settled.
I went to Farrow and Ball who have fantastic quality paint. You can pick up a very handy pamphlet that contains ALL of their colour swatches (they’ve really done the editing of all perfect colours for you). You can also buy small containers of paint for something like $6.95 to test out colours in your rooms. I am considering Pointing # 2003 (for hall and 2 3rd floor bedrooms), Shaded White #210 (for the den and alternate bedroom on the second floor) and Skylight #205 (for Jack’s room eventually).
We’ve also had alot of success with Benjamin Moore paints in the past so I went and picked up swatch cards from them as well for different options. We painted the livingroom and diningroom in our currrent house Smoky Taupe CC-490 and really love the colour- it works well in all sorts of different environments. It’s a little too deep of a colour for our plaster walls so I found 2 other colours that are lighter but similar in tone: Baby Fawn OC-15 and Edgecomb Gray HC-173.
Cloud White CC-40 is a classic decorator’s white that is slightly creamy and not stark white. We’re considering paring this (for the hall and 2 upper bedrooms) with Cloud White CC-20 in a semi gloss for all of the trim.
Will let you know our final selections shortly!

Cc 40 we done few rooms , very modern but elegant as well, I recommend that for trims and doors in satin with nice contrast color and 4′5 inch carpentery will add value of your house and custom look.
