Creating a resource/ style file

October 29th, 2007 · 5 Comments

I bought a binder that contains clear pockets to organize all of my inspirational tears as well as all of the resource information that I’ve been gathering along the way ie. quotes for products and services, swatches of materials, paint chip colours etc.

I’ve organized the tears by rooms of the house (kitchen, bathroom, laundry room etc) or architectural details (banisters, fireplace surrounds, windows and doors, ideas for dressing up our radiators etc.) I’ve found it to be incredibly useful to take along to meetings I’ve had with our Contractor and Kitchen Cabinetry companies etc. It’s great to have all of the details that you’ve gathered at your fingertips .

    Hi,

I was wondering where you bought living etc, and the UK version of Elle Decor.

Love the work you are doing - your homes are beautiful!

    Many thanks! Antiope

Thank you. I usually buy these magazines at either Chapters/ Indigo or we have a Magazine shop in our neighbourhood called Presse Internationale. They carry a large variety of home decor mags- it’s worth spending some time there!

    Thank you!

We’re currently renovating our first home (Monarch Park). It’s exciting!

Good luck with it! It’s sometimes a difficult process but ultimately worth it in the end run to have things the way that you like.

Thanks Anke. I’m really enjoying your blog. It’s useful even though we are not renovating a house but selecting materials, furnishing and layout of a new condo. I love the idea of the tears and the graph paper to plan layouts.
