Asbestos Removal

October 19th, 2007 · 8 Comments

I called Ken Haller our home inspector today to find out if he had any companies that he could recommend to remove the asbestos that we have covering some of our pipes in the basement. He gave me two companies names:

Fisher Environmental 905.475.7755 (he highly recommends)

A & A Asbestos 1.800.953.0252

The asbestos is contained but we want to have it removed from our house anyways!

I set up appointments with both companies to quote on removal once we take posession of the house Nov. 1st. Will keep you updated on cost.

I need to remove a small amount of asbestos from my rad pipes in our basement as well. Any idea why they wrapped it in the first place? It seems minimal in our place, seems to offer little protection from anything, but sure is a hassle now!

    Hi Jess

Ours was minimal as well. We had a lot of horse hair (as it turned out later). Both of these were used to keep warm water pipes insulated.

It’s definitely a pain but we are happy that we took it out.

Spoke to fisher environmental today - they couldn’t have sounded more reluctant! I’ll try the other one and see if they’re more keen.

    Hey, Kirk

    Thanks for your message.

How much does it cost for you?

    Hi Jay

We paid $900 for the removal on our pipes. Good luck with your job.

    Best. Kirk
