I went to Elte in search of broadloom today for the staircase leading up to the 3rd floor as well as the 2 bedrooms up there. I had also checked out the Flooring Giant as we had used them to install carpet in our current house. I found that Elte was right in line (and sometimes less expensive) for the pricing of wool carpets although their underpad and installation costs are more expensive.
Time is tight as we’d like for it to be installed before we move in… which means that they need to have the carpet in stock. The waiting time for carpet that needs to be ordered from the manufacturer can vary greatly- a manufacturer simply won’t run a small amount of carpeting as its not cost effective. They need to wait until the order is substantial enough.
I spoke with a very friendly and helpful sales person by the name of Hani Hana who took me through all of the different options of wool carpeting. I chose to go with wool because of its long lasting durability as well as the fact that unlike nylon, it does not give off gases. You can find great wools these days that are only slightly more expensive than nylon.
We narrowed things down to 3 choices (Country Sisal in oatmeal and ivory as well as Baririb in palomino)- all with limited but enough stock on hand. I told Hani that we had our last viewing of the house tonight and he immediately got on the phone to see if he could arrange for someone to come in and take exact measurements while we were there and gave me large swatches of each carpet to determine which colour. What fantastic service. He then told me to call him after we’d decided which one to go with (eventhough it was his day off the next day) so that he could arrange for the installation for when we needed. I’m excited/ nervous to go into the house again!
